01
What spice is for
Harvested spice sand isn't finished spice yet. You refine it at your base into spice melange, which you need for high-end crafting and which is worth a lot to other players. Spice is the engine of the economy on Arrakis.
02
Finding a field
Spice fields show up as orange-brown patches on open sand. In the Hagga Basin they're small and fairly safe, which makes them perfect for learning. The big fields are in the Deep Desert.
Fields don't last. They get harvested, and new ones appear after a spice blow. Check the map before you head out, and have a plan for how you'll get back.
03
The worm
Everything you do on open sand makes vibration: walking, driving, and especially harvesting. Enough vibration draws a sandworm. When the worm warning appears, you don't have long.
Rock is safe, sand is not. Before you start harvesting, look at where the nearest rock is and how fast you can get there. Leave while you still can. Losing a load of spice hurts less than losing your vehicle.
Quick tips
- Harvest close to rock whenever possible.
- Don't park vehicles on open sand if you don't need to.
- One player keeps watch for worm sign while the others harvest.
04
The Deep Desert
The Deep Desert has the richest fields, and PvP. Go as a group: someone harvests, someone scouts, someone guards. Our Friday spice run is the easiest way to learn this.
The Deep Desert gets reshaped regularly by the Coriolis storm, so fields and wrecks move. What worked last week might not be there now. Offload often. A full harvester is a target.
Quick tips
- Agree beforehand who does what and where you'll regroup.
- Bring spare fuel and repair supplies.
- Remember the house rule: we don't attack each other at a harvester.
The game is patched regularly. Spot something outdated? Let us know on Discord.
